Invited by the Government of the Republic of Slovenia and the Slovenian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Poland 3.0 programme was honoured to participate in this year’s Three Seas Summit.
On 5 and 6 June, the fourth Three Seas Summit took place in the capital of Slovenia, Ljubljana. In addition to many distinguished guests, Prime Ministers, Ministers and Ambassadors, the attendance was also honoured by the heads of the Three Seas Initiative: Mr Borut Pahor, President of Slovenia, Mr Rumen Radev President of Bulgaria, Mrs Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic President of Croatia, Mr Milos Zeman President of the Czech Republic, Ms. Kersti Kaljulaid President of Estonia , Mr Andrzej Duda, President of Poland. The representative of Hungary was Mr. Peter Szijjarto Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade. The United States was represent by Mr Rick Perry, United States Secretary of Energy and Mr. General James L. Jones, United States National Security Advisor.
The team of the National Cluster of Innovative Enterprises was also pleased to participate in this year’s Three Seas Summit.
To the Forum in Ljubljana the National Cluster Innovative Enterprises went to a personal invitation addressed by the Government of the Republic of Slovenia and the Slovenian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
The first day of the Summit was devoted to the debate on the development of the three seas initiative on many levels. It was emphasized how important the energy security of our countries plays, what are the challenges and opportunities for energy development in the Three Seas countries. It was debated how the introduction of innovations can be influenced by the acceleration of the development of countries. The main debate of the first day of the Three Seas Summit in Ljubljana was the Presidential Panel. The Heads of countries talked about the issues of energy security, the development of the Three Seas Fund, which was established during the last year’s summit in Bucharest. Also among others topics that are recorded in the Poland 3.0 program as a key.
President Andrzej Duda in his speech mentioned that the development of the road network on the north-south axis is the key for the development of the three seas initiative. The President of the Czech Republic, Milos Zeman, remarked that the Oder-Elbe-Danube connection is also of key importance.
During the presidential debate, the vice president of the National Cluster of Innovative Enterprises Angelika Jarosławska-Sapieha asked the heads of countries if they think isn’t it high time to invite Ukraine to the Three Seas Initiative .
The intervention met with great approval. After the debate, Mr. Ambassador of Ukraine, Mykhailo F. Brodovych, congratulated Ms Angelika on the floor and thanked her for her interest and commitment to Ukraine. Similar words of appreciation and support Ms. Jarosławska heard from Mr. Ian Brzezinski from the Atlantic Council, and from the former US Ambassador, Mr. Daniel Fried, who asked the program coordinator to provide additional information about the situation in Ukraine. The Vice President of the National Cluster of Innovative Enterprises participated on 13 May 2019 at the Atlantic Council meeting in Kharkiv, „Annual Kharkiv Security Conference Addressing Cyber Resilience in Ukraine: Strengthening Ukraine’s Cyber Defenses”.
On the second day of the Summit the National Cluster of Innovative Enterprises team was invited by Atlantic Council to substantive roundtable discussion on topics: How can the development of digitalization become a new driving force for the development of Central and Eastern European countries? What cross-border or regional approaches might be put place in the framework of the Three Seas Initiative to ensure that digital, like robust energy security and efficient transport links contributes to the development of the region? What are the roadblocks that the Central and Eastern Europe countries could address together to open up global opportunities for their companies and citizens?
Michał Macek, Expert if cluster internationalisation in the Poland 3.0 program and the vice president of the National Innovative Enterprises Cluster Angelika Jarosławska – Sapieha, who explained how clusters affect in the development. Only the creation of international clusters can help in the dynamic development of our part of Europe. They also discussed a cluster cross-border cooperation program – Poland 3.0, which can be a case study of cooperation on joint projects of 12 countries.
